The museum was inaugurated in 1997 to house a collection of objects that represent the traditional practices and customs of the people of Cape Verde. The Ethnographic Museum of Praia, through collections related to activities such as farming, fishing, weaving (baskets, panaria), tin can craft, pottery, grinding tools and accessories, seeks to publicize and perpetuate the collective memory of the Capeverdean people.

Working hours: Monday to Friday from 9:00 – 12:00 a.m. and from to 02:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Entrance fee: All visitors must pay a symbolic entrance fee of 100 $ 00 (1 Euro), except children, senior citizens, students, visiting delegations (when duly authorized in advance).
